Two schools not joining LMU/iDivision
According to LMU/iDivision director Drew Furedi at the neighborhood council education committee meeting held last night, two schools in our Westchester/Playa del Rey area will not be entering into the LMU/iDivision partnership. He was pretty vague on the reasons however it did not sound like the Principals had anything to do with it.
Was it a labor issue? The UTLA boss AJ Duffy was not at all happy with any of the local elementaries joining iDivision earlier in the year so that’s my quick guess.
The schools that WILL NOT not be joining this year are Paseo del Rey Elementary (Playa del Rey) and Loyola Elementary. Too bad, they stand to gain 25% to 30% more funding at the school site level which is what most everyone complains about.
Both schools may choose to join later but it won’t be happening in the 2008/2009 school calendar. Some parent pressure by local community parents and residents could resolve that.
